Perspective on Dying

My mom shared this perspective with me and I wanted to post it here to always remember it.  This perspective does bring me some comfort that Angel is safe and not alone.

____

"Perspective on Dying"

I am standing on the seashore. A ship spreads her (Angel's) sails to the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. I stand watching her until she fades on the horizon, and someone at my side says "She is gone".

"Gone where?" The loss of sight is in ME not in her. Just at the moment when someone says "She is gone" there are others who are watching her coming. Other voices take up the glad shout, "Here she comes"!

And that is dying.

People say that one day you'll wake up and discover you've still got the good memories but you haven't got the pain. Hopefully that morning will be soon.
